Dr. Elizabeth Dean
Head of Learning Design
Elizabeth grew up in Northern Virginia surrounded by an untamed group of passionate educators. After a brief stint as an event designer, she decided follow in their footsteps and begin her own career in education. Elizabeth has spent the past fifteen years working in various roles in public schools as a high school English teacher, Department Chair, and Instructional Coach.
Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology & American Studies at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, and then graduated from George Washington University twice: first with a Masters in Secondary Education and second with a Doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership. Her dissertation focused on understanding more about student voice and how school leaders include students in the leadership of their schools. It was her research that led her to find The Village School.
Elizabeth believes that young people are capable of so much more than the world gives them credit for and is excited to walk beside TVS learners as they find their callings and change the world.
